Our Staff

Melanie Hughes – Acting Manager

My name is Mel and I have been with Company for almost 10 years, starting out as Housekeeper and working my way up to my current position as Acting Manager. I have achieved a Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care and I am currently studying for a Level 5 qualification.

There is nothing more satisfying for me than seeing our residents happy and achieving their goals with support and encouragement from our dedicated care team.

I have 2 adult daughters and 2 young grandsons who keep me busy during my free time.

Jodie Kerr-Preston – Acting Deputy Manager

My name is Jodie and I started work in the care industry when I was 18. I have worked in domiciliary care and two previous homes before Marwood.

I came to Marwood in 2017 with my Level 2 & 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care. Since joining the company, I have progressed to Team Leader and have now taken on the role of Acting Deputy Manager. I hold 15 years’ experience and have completed a Level 4 qualification.

To work in a home where residents’ needs and wishes are put first makes my role even more rewarding and it is great to work for a company that supports personal growth and development.

Sioned Davies – Acting Team Leader

Hello, my name is Sioned. I started working in the care industry at a young age, helping in the kitchen and giving out breakfasts at the weekends. When I turned 18, I took on the role of Care Assistant. I came to Marwood in 2019 with my NVQ Level 3 and started on nights as a carer. I quickly moved up to Senior Care Assistant before transitioning on to days.

Recently, I have progressed into the role of Acting Team Leader and hope to start my NVQ Level 4 very soon.

I have worked in many homes throughout my working life but now, working in a home that puts emphasis on person-centred care, independence and dignity is a privilege.

A fundamental part of our philosophy at Marwood is the provision of exceptional levels of care. Our staff are committed to achieving this by providing the highest level of care possible at all times and take great pride in their work and in supporting and caring for all of our residents.

We ensure that sufficient time is allocated throughout the day for our carers to spend time with residents, wherever that involves assisting in a client pursuing their interests or simply keeping them company, and having a chat!

All staff are experienced and fully trained and therefore able to provide person centred care both physically and emotionally while at the same time, gently encouraging each person to maintain a level of independence and choice.

Residents also have provision of in-house visits from GP’s, District Nurses, Opticians and dentists as required.
